In more detail
Few-shot means showing a model a handful of examples inside your request so it picks up the pattern — two or three demonstrations of input and desired output, followed by your real case. The model then imitates the format and style it has just seen.
It matters because it’s the easiest fix when instructions alone aren’t landing. Describing a format in words is hard; showing it is easy. Sitting between zero-shot (no examples) and fine-tuning (permanent training), few-shot is the sweet spot you can use in any chat window, right now.
